First grade classes are taking a field trip to the MN Landscape Arboretum's Learning Center for their Fall program, "It's a Pumpkin's Life!" They will discover the diversity of pumpkins, go on a plant life-cycle hunt, learn about pumpkin seeds and more!  The cost of the field trip is $15, which covers the cost of the programming and bus fee. Scholarships are available upon request. Please fill out this form to request a scholarship. If you request a scholarship, you do not need to fill out the ePay form. Please complete the permission form and payment via E-Pay or make a scholarship request by Friday, Oct. 10th.

Each class will need 2-3 parent chaperones to join us!  Chaperones do not need to pay, but will need to drive themselves to/from the Arboretum and be available to be with us from 9:30-12:00.  Chaperones must also have the background check for volunteers completed prior to the field trip date.  If we are in the wonderful position of too many adults wanting to volunteer, each class will have a drawing for their allotted chaperones.  Teachers will notify those interested in volunteering if their name is/isn't drawn by Tuesday, Oct. 14th.

 

**While on the field trip, students will be learning to classify parts of plants like a scientist, sorting seeds and fruit.  They will have the option to eat the following items: dried apples, sunflower seeds, popcorn, dried cranberries and pumpkin seeds.  If your student has an allergy to any of these items, or is unable to eat any of these items, please notify your child's classroom teacher as soon as possible for planning purposes with Arboretum staff.**
