Description
On Wednesday, March 4, from 8:45am to 12:15pm, Mr. Kaus, Ms. Pietila, and Mr. Scholle's 2nd grade students will be going on a field trip to the University of MN Landscape Arboretum in Chanhassen to learn about maple syruping. Mrs. Gendreau and Mrs. Lueders' 2nd grade students will be going on the same field trip on Thursday, March 5. Students will learn to identify maple trees, tap trees, collect the maple sap, and how the sap is boiled to make maple syrup and maple sugar. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather as we will be outside for approximately two hours on the field trip.
2nd grade students will also be going to the Minnesota History Center on Thursday, May 14th, from 9:15am to 2:00pm. As part of our Then and Now social studies unit we will be learning about Dakota children growing up around 1860. We will also explore other galleries to learn more about Minnesota history.
We are seeking chaperones for both field trips. Please let us know if you are available to chaperone for either trip via ePay or using the scholarship form. **If you are selected to chaperone for either field trip, your student's teacher will reach out to you.
Thank you to the PTO for helping reduce the costs of these field trips!
